Educational Qualification

Full Time Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with not less than 60% marks or equivalent grade from recognized University/ Institute approved by AICTE/UGC, as on 01.10.2026.

The percentage is taken from the consolidated mark sheet issued by the University/Institution. If the university or institute does not issue a consolidated mark sheet, the final percentage is the average of all semesters/years. Candidates must write their percentage without rounding it off. If the mark sheets show CGPA/OGPA/DGPA:

  • If the university/institute has no rule for converting CGPA/OGPA/CPI/DGPA or a letter grade into a percentage, a minimum of 6 on a 10-point scale is treated as 60%. A score on any other scale is prorated.
  • If the university/institute does provide a conversion, the candidate gives the equivalent percentage using that institution’s norms. A certificate to this effect may be obtained from the university/institute, and it must be produced at the time of verification.

Experience

Candidates need at least five years of experience after their qualification, as on 01.10.2026. The experience must be in Electrical construction, Procurement, Installation, Testing and commissioning/TRD Maintenance in Railways, Metro Rail or Power Transmission/Distribution utilities. Experience in Railway OHE/Power Supply/SCADA, E&M or Electrical utility Diversion will be preferred. Teaching, training, consultancy or freelancing experience does not count as relevant experience.

Age Limit

The maximum age is 50 years as on 01.10.2026. Age relaxations follow the Government of India’s guidelines, as long as the candidate has the required qualification and experience.

Medical Standards

Candidates should be in sound health and free from colour blindness. No relaxation in health standards will be allowed.

Candidates can apply whether or not they are working on the cut-off date, as long as they have the essential qualification and post-qualification experience. Ex-contract employees of IRCON whose services ended because their projects closed can also apply if they meet these requirements. They must send a copy of their termination letter with the application, and the new appointment will be a fresh appointment with no link to their earlier employment in IRCON. For the full eligibility conditions of the post, see the official notification.
