- A skill test of qualifying nature, where one (such as a Physical Efficiency Test) is prescribed in the essential qualification
- Document Verification
- Recommendation to the department
Selection is done as per Rule 7 of the Ladakh Reservation (Amendment) Rules, 2025.
Written Examination Pattern
LAHDC-KSSRB will decide whether the exam is CBT, TBT or OMR-based and will inform candidates. The exam is held at three levels (Matric, 10+2 and Graduate), matching the level printed for each post.
| Part | Subject | Questions / Maximum Marks | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | General Intelligence | 25 | 1 hour 30 minutes (2 hours for candidates eligible for scribes) |
| B | General Awareness | 25 | |
| C | Quantitative Aptitude | 25 | |
| D | English Language | 25 |
- Each question carries 1 mark, with negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- The exam is in English.
- The minimum qualifying mark is 20%. Candidates scoring less are not considered for Document Verification. The Board may fix a minimum qualifying score based on category-wise vacancies and the number of candidates in each category.
- Exam centres will be in Kargil, Drass, Zanskar and Sankoo districts only. LAHDC-KSSRB may move a candidate to another centre and will not accept requests to change the city, centre or date.
- Tentative answer keys will be placed on the website after the exam. Candidates may object online within the time limit, on payment of ₹100 per question. The Board’s decision on the objections is final.
Syllabus
The syllabus matches the essential qualification of the post. The notice gives an indicative syllabus for each level:
- Matriculation level: non-verbal General Intelligence (similarities and differences, space visualisation, problem solving, figure classification, arithmetical number series); General Awareness (current events, India and its neighbouring countries, sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, polity including the Indian Constitution, scientific research); Quantitative Aptitude (number systems, decimals and fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance, time and work); English (vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and correct usage).
- 10+2 (Higher Secondary) level: verbal and non-verbal General Intelligence (analogies, classification, Venn diagrams, coding-decoding, series, figural patterns); General Awareness; Quantitative Aptitude (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, statistical charts); English (spot the error, fill in the blanks, idioms, one-word substitution, active/passive voice, direct/indirect narration, cloze and comprehension passages).
- Graduate level: Part-A General Intelligence (verbal and non-verbal, including syllogistic reasoning, statement conclusion, indexing, address matching); Part-B General Awareness; Part-C Quantitative Aptitude (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, data charts); Part-D English comprehension and writing ability. Parts A, B and D are set at graduation level and Part C at 10th standard level.
Document Verification and Final Selection
- Candidates who reach the minimum qualifying marks are provisionally shortlisted for Document Verification on merit. The ratio is 1:20 for up to 5 vacancies in a category of post, and 1:10 for more than 5 vacancies, subject to a minimum of 100. This ratio may rise or fall depending on departmental needs. Candidates tied with the last candidate in the bracket are also included.
- If vacancies remain unfilled during Document Verification, the Board may call more qualified candidates in order of merit.
- Document Verification is held in the Office of LAHDC-KSSRB. The Board scrutinises documents together with the Indenting Departments.
- The Board recommends candidates based on merit and the post preference they give. Preferences are sought through the Board’s portal after the written exam or at Document Verification.
- The departments issue the offer of appointment, subject to all eligibility criteria, including antecedents and character.
Tie Resolution
When candidates have equal aggregate marks in the written exam, the tie is broken by these rules in order:
- The older candidate by date of birth is placed higher.
- Higher aggregate percentage in the basic qualification.
- Higher qualification acquired.
- Alphabetical order of name.
Scribe and Compensatory Time
- A scribe is provided, on request to the Board, for persons with benchmark disabilities in the blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected-BA) and cerebral palsy categories. A scribe is not allowed for both-arms-affected candidates where the post is not identified as suitable for them.
- Other persons with benchmark disabilities get a scribe on producing a certificate in the Annexure-I format. It must be issued by the Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution and state that the candidate has a physical limitation to write.
- Persons with a specified disability of less than 40% who have difficulty in writing get a scribe and compensatory time on producing the certificate in the Annexure-XIV format (as per O.M. F.No. 29-6/2019-DD-III dated 10.08.2022).
- Candidates may choose their own scribe or the Board’s scribe. An own scribe’s qualification must be one step below the candidate’s. The candidate submits the Annexure-II undertaking with a photocopy of the scribe’s ID proof, signed by the candidate.
- An own scribe must not be a candidate in this examination. If caught doing so, the candidatures of both will be cancelled.
- Candidates allowed a scribe get an additional 20 minutes per hour.
- One-eyed and partially blind candidates who can read the normal question paper may use a magnifying glass, which they must bring themselves. They are not entitled to a scribe.
